Preschool Snow Day: December 30th 10 am to Noon – 3 to 6 years old with an adult $21 per pair & $10 per additional participant
Learn about snow and winter through a variety of engaging activities and games for early learners. These are activities that adults can continue to do at home with the kids so they can get outdoors all winter long! We will be building with snow, playing games with snow, make snow art, and do snow science! Make sure you and your littles are dressed for the weather as most of the time will be spent outdoors.
Guided Family Snowshoe Hike: January 9th 10 am to Noon – 6 to 99 years old $21 per participant or $57 per family
Join EcoElsa to explore the winter landscape of Ritter Farm Park and learn how to snowshoe. During this fun, family excursion, you will learn about Minnesota’s winter habitats as well as the history of snowshoeing! This is a great family outing for ages 6 and up, make sure to dress for the weather as the whole program will be spent outdoors! Snowshoes will be provided and participants will be instructed on how to use them.
Winter Tracking Games: January 18th 9 am to Noon – 7 to 13 years old $36 per participant
We will learn how to identify common animal footprints. Kids will learn the basic skills to find their “opponent,” track them, and sneak up on them while playing games and doing activities. These skills are useful for hunters, photographers, and nature enthusiasts as well as for the characters from our favorite survival movies and books. Take on the challenges and see if you ultimately triumph on your way to becoming a master tracker! Expect to be outdoors for the whole 3 hour program, dress appropriately for the weather.
Winter Survival Camp: January 30th 9 am to Noon – 7 to 13 years old $36 per participant
Your kid will learn skills through activities and games that will help them learn what to do in a survival situation. Kids will leave knowing the rules of three, 2 types of shelter engineering, fire science and safety, and how to collect and treat water. Make sure to dress for the weather as most of the class will be spent outdoors!
Snow Day STEAM: February 15th 9 am to Noon – 7 to 13 years old $36 per participant
oin an EcoElsa educator for a three hour “snow day” full of activities that will get your kids outdoors learning, being active, and having fun! Some activities we may do depending on the weather and snow include snowman relay race, build a better snowball launcher, snow fort engineering, snow poetry, snow science discovery, snowflake art, and snow nature art! Many of these activities are fun things your kids will be able to continue to do at home all winter long! Expect to be outside most of time so dress for the weather!
Guided Adult Adventure Snowshoe Hike: February 20th 9 am to Noon – 15 to 99 years old $29 per participant
This class starts up where the beginner class left off with a even longer hike allowing you to practice different snow show steps and skills. You will get to explore Ritter Farm Park like you never have before with a naturalist along to point out interesting things along the way. Make sure to dress for the weather as the whole program will be spent outdoors! Snowshoes will be provided, and participants will be instructed on how to use them. So you can learn a great activity you can enjoy doing throughout the winter. For adults or a mature 15-17 year old signed up with an adult.
