Join a Naturalist from EcoElsa to learn how to conduct different animal surveys and experiments. Kids will learn how to observe different animals and collect data about them and their habitats as well as how to report that data as a “citizen scientist.” Camp will include getting to interact with a wide variety of plants and small wildlife like insects, amphibians, snakes, and birds as well as using different scientist tools to do their research and exploring. Kids will need to bring their own lunch as one will not be provided. Also make sure to dress for the weather closed toed shoes and preferably long pants as most of the class will be spent outdoors!
All participants should dress appropriately for all sorts of outdoor activities. Tennis shoes, bug spray, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle are recommended. Participants should also plan on bringing two snacks and a bag lunch. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy.
Outdoor Survival Camp: August 10th-11th 8:30 am to Noon – 7 to 12 years old $78 per participant
Learn the rules of three, how to signal and look for help, shelter engineering, fire science and safety, how to collect and treat water and basic orienteering skills. Your kids will learn skills through games and activities that will help them learn what to do in a survival situation. Make sure to dress for the weather; wear closed toed shoes and long pants as most of the class will be spent outdoors.
Designed by Nature Camp: August 12th-13th 8 am to Noon – 7 to 12 years old $78 per participant
Scientists and engineers study nature to find solutions to fix the problems we face. In this biomimicry STEM camp we will investigate how to build a better marshmallow launcher by studying how projectiles found in nature work. Then put your problem-solving skills and creativity to the test to find a solution to a variety of challenges like earthquake-proofing buildings, designing prosthetic limbs and more!
Family Campout: August 14th to 15th (Fri to Sat) 6:30 pm to 11:00 am (next day) – All ages! $57 per family
Join EcoElsa for a night of family camping fun at Casperson Park! We will be doing traditional campfire games, songs, and stories and also some night hike games and activities like bat & moth, owl calls and more! Complimentary hot dogs, fixings, s’mores, and campfire bread will be provided. Bring your favorite beverages and other food to enjoy. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to set up your tent. You will learn the basics of getting your campsite set up, campfire safety and food preparation, as well as games and activities to make memorable camping excursions. Registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies.
